Celebrating an excellent term

We've had such a brilliant term, welcoming children and young people aged 2 - 18 to Middleport Pottery. We look forward to meeting more students and alternative education learners in 2020!

Message from our Learning & Heritage manager, Rebecca Loughhead.

"This term we have been lucky to host a wide range of learning activity on site. Our team have supported groups aged 2 and upwards to engage with the site through, exploration of the Heritage trail, Factory Tour and through clay and storytelling workshops across key stages & educational backgrounds. Our educational visits enrich learners' understanding of the pottery manufacturing process, from our Victorian origins to present day.

A highlight this term has been our involvement with the Exploring the Wider World project. Funded by the Stoke-on-Trent Opportunity Area and delivered by Early Education. This project aims to enable participants in nursery and pre-school settings across the public and private sectors to make the most of their local heritage, culture and community. We have been able to support children in accessing the remaining bottle oven on-site, board narrowboat ‘Dane’ and engaging them in hands-on clay sessions during their visits to Middleport Pottery."
